The association is a non-profit organisation, manned by unpaid participants from within the metal recycling industry who are voted onto an executive committee annually and who jointly attend the following duties:
• Assisting business and law enforcement through anti-theft measures.
• Co-operating with consumers to ensure that local industry requirements are met.
• Lobbying government on legislative matters.
• Engaging legal representation on behalf of members, when facing industry threatening circumstances.
• Promoting the positive contribution of the metal recycling industry.
• Keeping members abreast of international industry & legislative trends, via linkages with offshore affiliates.
• Promoting safety, health and environmental issues relating to the industry.
• Ensuring that members’ businesses are conducted in an environmentally friendly manner.
• Taking disciplinary action against members contravening Policing members’ adherence to the association’s code of conduct.
